6th January 2020.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you have all had a good Christmas and would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy New Year and to give our new children and their families a very warm welcome.

Theme:

This half term we will be looking at “Weather” and will be exploring our rich and varied weather types!

Also this half term we will be completing our annual RSPB big school Birdwatch. This gives the children a wonderful opportunity to see the variety of birds on our doorstep here at Christ Church. If you would like to help or get involved in any of these activities then please speak to Teresa.

Website:

Unfortunately we currently have a slight hiccup with our website and are unable to upload documents. However, we hope to resolve this soon and you will then be able to view our weekly plans on the notice board page. In the meantime you will still be able to view our weekly paragraph telling you a little about what the children have been doing during the week. This is normally posted on Friday afternoon

If you lose a newsletter don’t worry you can find all the newsletters from the past year on our website together with a calendar with key events marked and also term dates for this academic year.

Our policies are also available on the website together with a large amount of other information.

Job Vacancy:

We are currently advertising for a level 3 Early Years Practitioner to replace Claire who will sadly be leaving us on January 23rd. Should you know anyone who may be seeking such a post then do please spread the word!

Winter Weather:

Should we have heavy snow this term we may need to make a decision as to whether to open. In such circumstances please check the home page of the website where we will post a message to state whether we will be open or closed

Mobile Phone Policy:

May we take this opportunity to remind you that we as part of our safeguarding we have a “No mobile phone” policy in and around the building. We would therefore be very grateful if you could ensure that you do not use mobile phones whilst dropping and picking up your children. As the children are in the lounge just prior to pick up we would be grateful if you could also ensure that if you need to use your phone at this time you do not stand by the lounge windows.

We would also be grateful if you could where possible resist the temptation to look through into the lounge at this point – the children get quite excited when they see their parents or siblings looking into the lounge and this can prove a bit of distraction during their story!!

Parents’ rota:

On our notice board we have a parent’s rota and you are very welcome to put your name down to help out for a session. However we do suggest that you wait until your child is settled into the routine before you do this.

Parking:

Please park considerably when dropping and picking up your child. We had a very strong complaint last half term about cars blocking driveways and the entrance to Abbey view opposite the church. Many thanks

Child absences:

If your child is goingto be absent for any reason due to a family holiday then please let us know. Once they are funded London Borough of Bromley stipulates that children are allowed no more than 3 weeks absence due to such events during any one term and for this reason you will need to fill in an absence sheet for any absences due to holiday etc. Should your child be absent for longer than 3 weeks then you will be liable to pay the full fees for the absence.

We are required to keep a note of absences due to sickness and it is important therefore that you notify us if your child is absent due to being unwell. Many thanks for your co-operation.

Extended sessions:

These sessions are primarily for children who are off to school in September and run until 2:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. As well as learning to manage their lunch the children love exploring outside during the afternoon and towards the summer also get the opportunity to practice such skills as getting changed for P.E. the cost for this session is £11.00 and if you are eligible for extended entitlement funding then you can access 2 hours funding towards the cost of this session. Please speak to Teresa should you wish your child to join these sessions.

Primary School Applications:

The deadline for applications for Primary Schools for 3 and 4 year olds born between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016 is Wednesday 15th January and it is imperative that you send your applications in by this date.
