25th February 2019.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you all had an enjoyable half term and welcome you back to the second half of the spring term at Pals.

Our theme this half term is “Where Next Mr Noah”:

We are taking a mini world tour this half term using the book “Where Next Mr Noah” as our springboard. This lovely story imagines Noah sending the animals to different parts of the world after the flood and we are going to follow the kangaroos to Australia, the pandas to China, elephants to Africa and India and the parrots to the rain forests in South America - quite a feat without even leaving Chislehurst!!

As always we love to encourage parents to be involved as much as possible so if you would like to help in any way within the setting whether by contributing to our themes, putting your name down on the parents rota or just coming in for an hour to read to the children then please do let us know. We would particularly like to get more dads involved – particularly in reading to the children as it is well researched that dads reading to their children has a huge impact on the child’s interest in print and literacy.

If anyone has family members who work in an office or perhaps in print then we would be especially grateful for any unwanted paper. Our future scientists, artists and architects need a surprising amount of paper to practice their skills and any donations of (unwanted old) paper would be very welcome!!

World Book Day:

We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th March. The children are invited to come dressed as a favourite book character on those mornings for a donation of £1 which we will use to purchase some new story books for the children to explore and enjoy.

Eco planting Competition returns

After the Easter break we will be running an Eco planting competition. We would like to invite you to create a recycled planter (complete with plant) over the Easter break with your child for our outdoor area. The planter should be made from anything recycled be it a yoghurt pot, an old boot, football, tea pot…..!! Please bring them in week commencing Monday 29th April. Every child that brings one in will receive a packet of seeds for you to plant at home and also a certificate.

We would be very grateful if you could ensure that you arrive on time with your child in the morning as this enables us to start promptly with small groups and other activities. It would also help us if you could clearly label your child’s outdoor clothes. We are outside most days and it is quite a feat to return 32 coats to the correct peg!!

Term dates 2019-20

For those of you who will still be with us in September please find term dates attached for the next academic year. These are also available on the home page of our website.

We have managed to maintain the fees for the additional 15 minutes at the same rate for a significant time now. However, with increasing costs and no funding increase from the Government for some years the fees for the additional 15 minutes will rise to £4:00 from the commencement of the summer term.

Parents leaflets:

We have a selection of parents leaflets on a variety of topics in the racks on the parents table in the entrance hall. Do please feel free to  help yourself to these resources.

Dads and Tots:

This meets on the fourth Saturday of every month in the link here at Christ Church from 9:30 until 11:00. Upcoming dates are March 23rd and April 27th - why not come along to meet up with other Dads over a Bacon Butty while your children play.

Many thanks for all those parents who filled in our questionnaires last half term. We have looked closely at the results and comments and were delighted. Where possible we have responded to any suggestions made.

We would really appreciate it if you were to post a testimonial on our website and you are able to do this by clicking on the testimonial link at the top of our home page on the website. You are also able to leave a review of Google or net mums. Nearly all of our enquiries come either by recommendation or through the website. You are also able to leave a review on Google.

Summer Dates for your Diary:

Please save the date for our Summer Show which will be held in the church on Wednesday 17th July. Children arrive at 10:00 on this morning and parents stay for this event where the children showcase some of their P.E. activities and Circle Time songs.  More details to follow.

On Friday 19th July all children are invited to our Teddy Bears Picnic 9:45 -12:00 – again more details to follow.

May we remind you that we are always happy to arrange a time to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have.
